Our Mission: Building Australia’s First Member-Dividend Union

At MYUNION, we are building something fundamentally different.


Our mission is simple, but ambitious: to make MYUNION the first union-style organisation in Australia to return dividends directly to its members, while delivering meaningful, practical support across the full spectrum of people’s working lives.


This is not about profit for shareholders.

This is about value for members.


Why Dividends Matter

For too long, working people have been asked to contribute fees to organisations without seeing a direct, tangible return on that contribution beyond representation alone.


MYUNION is committed to changing that model.


As MYUNION grows, our goal is to establish a structure where surpluses generated through ethical operations and collective participation are reinvested back into the membership — not extracted, not hoarded, and not diverted away from the people who create the value.


Returning dividends to members is about:


  • Accountability

  • Transparency

  • Shared ownership

  • Collective benefit



It is about recognising that members are not customers — they are stakeholders.

A Whole-of-Life Approach to Advocacy

Work does not exist in isolation.


Employment issues are deeply connected to:


  • Health and wellbeing

  • Family and caring responsibilities

  • Housing security

  • Financial stress

  • Discrimination and social exclusion

  • Access to welfare and support systems


MYUNION is committed to a whole-of-life advocacy model, recognising that people do not switch off their humanity when they clock on or clock off.


Our vision is to represent members across employment, social, and welfare intersections, ensuring advocacy reflects real lives — not siloed systems.


Shaping the Initial Suite of Services — Together

We do not believe in designing services for people without listening to them first.


That is why we are inviting contributions directly from members and supporters to help shape MYUNION’s initial suite of services.


We want to hear from you:


  • What support do you wish existed but currently doesn’t?

  • What services would genuinely improve your working life?

  • Where do existing systems fail you the most?

  • What would meaningful member value look like to you?


This includes — but is not limited to — ideas around:


  • Employment advocacy and dispute support

  • Workplace rights education

  • Discrimination and human rights advocacy

  • Welfare navigation and advocacy

  • Life-stage support (injury, illness, caring, transition, retirement)

  • Collective buying power and member benefits

  • Community-based mutual support models


Your lived experience matters. Your ideas matter. Your voice will help define what MYUNION becomes.


Participation Is the Point

MYUNION is not being built as a top-down institution.


It is being built as a participatory organisation, grounded in:


  • Member involvement

  • Collective decision-making

  • Ethical governance

  • Long-term sustainability
